William B. Sanders
Wm. B. Sanders passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. Berends in Holland, Saturday, April 9th. He was born August 8th, 1935, in Midlum, East Friesia.
He was married to Miss Sievertje Straaten in 1859. Nine children were born to them, two dying in infancy and one grown son was accidentally killed.
He came to this country in 1894, settling at Cleves. During the last few years both he and Mrs. Sanders made their home with their children. Two years ago they were privileged to celebrate their 60th anniversary.
Those who survive him are his aged wife, two sons, William and Justus; four daughters, Mrs. L. Berends of Holland, Mrs. John Harms of Steamboat Rock, Mrs. Herman Gronewald and Mrs. John Gronewald of Herman, Minnesota; thirty-six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Interment took place in the Colfax Presbyterian cemetery, Rev. J. E. Drake being in charge, choosing for his text Philippians 1:23, "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better."
