Obituary Mrs. Henry Freese

Gertrude Freese, nee Hempen, was born July 28, 1871, in Petkum, Ostfriesland. She was baptized in Germany. She emigrated with her parents to America in 1891 and settled in Grundy county, Iowa.

February 28, 1896, she was married to Henry Freese and the couple moved on a farm in Lincoln township. They moved to Beaver township in 1913 and stayed there until 1926, when they retired and moved to Fern.

Mrs. Freese had been ill for more than a year. On October 24 the Lord took her away and she entered her heavenly reward. Her age was 71 years 2 month 26 days.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Henry Freese; one son, Tom Freese; one daughter, Mrs. Peter Pruisner Jr., Grundy Center; one sister, Mrs. Hilko Siebrands, Grundy Center; and 11 grandchildren. One daughter preceded her in death at the age of 5 years.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday by Rev. Wm. Paulsen of Cedar Rapids at Salem Lutheran church.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Freese, Pipestone, Minn., and Henry Freese from Camp Shelby, Miss.
