Died--Mrs. O. E. Wheaton, after an illness of several months, died at her home in this city last Saturday morning, Oct. 19th, 1888.
Obituary
The deceased had been in very poor health for some months but was not thought dangerous until the three last days of her life, when she grew rapidly worse, and on Saturday morning the lamp of life ceased to burn and her spirit took its flight to the happy land above.Miss Belle LaVerne Blackmarr, daughter of Rev. H. Blackmarr was born at Hamlet, N.Y., August 29th, 1861, and before she was a year old her parents moved to Ingersol, Canada, where they lived until she was about nine years old, when they removed to Wilton, Muscatine county, Ia. After the death of her mother, in 1880, she made her home with her sister, Mrs. L. T. Sheets, where she remained until her marriage with O. E. Wheaton, May 30, 1883, when she and her husband came to Grundy Center, where they have since lived.
The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church, Monday afternoon, Rev. W. A. Pottle officiating, after which the remains were taken to Rose Hill cemetery, where they were laid to rest.
Mrs. Wheaton was a kind and loving wife and a good neighbor, loved by all who knew her. On Monday night, at 10:30 o'clock, her little boy, Orson Ray, about a year old, died of cholera infantum and on Tuesday afternoon the little form was taken to the cemetery and placed in its mother's arms. Thus Mrs. Wheaton and her dear babe lie peacefully sleeping their last sleep together. The deceased wife and mother leaves a loving husband and little daughter, one sister and two brothers to mourn their loss. The bereaved husband and friends have the sympathy of this community in this their sad affliction. May Heaven's choicest blessings rest upon them and may they have the blessed thought that "they are not dead, but sleeping," "over there."
