Died
Parrish--At the residence of her parents on the county farm on Monday January 23, 1888 at 6 o'clock, Miss Emma Parrish daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Parrish, aged 20 years.
Miss Emma has been teaching in our county for several years and attended by much success and up until about three weeks before her death was engaged in her school near Wellsburg.
Emma was a very estimable young lady beloved by all who knew her and her sudden departure from this world of care, has saddened the hearts of her many friends and acquaintances who had learned to esteem her for her many virtues.
She was the only child and her grief stricken parents have the tender sympathy of this community in their bereavement.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Pottle at the home of the deceased at two o'clock this afternoon, after which the remains followed by a large number of sympathizing friends were taken to the cemetery west of this city and laid to rest.
She has gone to that beautiful land on high,
Where none ever shall say "good-by"
When we pass over the river
We'll be happy, with her forever,
In that beautiful land on nigh.--Grundy County Republican (Grundy Center, Iowa), 25 January 1888, pg 5
