Mrs. Fred Billman, Former Dike Woman, Dies at Cedar Falls
Mrs. Fred Billman, who for many years resided at Dike, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lee Hurlbut in Cedar Falls. She suffered a stroke a week ago Sunday and did not regain consciousness. She had been in failing health the past seven years due to nervous breakdown.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Cedar Falls Monday afternoon. Burial was in the cemetery at Dike.
Obituary
Marion Elizabeth Hall Billman, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Hall, was born June 29, 1869, five miles northeast of Parkersburg, Ia. In early life she attended Cornell college, taught music and was active in church and social work around Cedar Falls.She was united in marriage to Fred Billman in 1891, and lived with her husband on a farm near Dike until 1923, when she moved to Parkersburg with her family. In 1928 she moved to Cedar Falls.
Surviving are her husband, Fred Billman, two sons and three daughters: Tony Billman and Leo Billman of Dike, Mrs. Lee Hurlbut, 225 North Logan, Cedar Falls, Mrs. Stanley Graham, Parkersburg, and Marlys Billman, Cedar Falls, and nineteen grandchildren.
