Herman Rindels Dead From Heart Attack

Herman J. Rindels of Dike passed away at 12:42 a.m. Tuesday morning, November 17, at Allen Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 20 at 1:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church, rural Grundy Center, with the Rev. Alfred Hannink officiating. The Men's Quartet sang "Amazing Grace" and "Going Down The Valley." They were accompanied by Mrs. Duane Schipper. Mrs. Marvin Graves played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Marlyn Arends, Vernon Rindels, Darius Rindels, Duane Rindels, Roy Alberts, and Lester Alberts. Ushers were Marvin Graves and John Weber Jr. Mrs. Roy Groote and Mrs. Marvin Meester were in charge of the floral arrangements. Roy Groote and Paul Reinicke provided their cars for the family's use.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, Ia. Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mr. Rindels was born on September 26, 1900 in Grundy county, the son of Jacob and Jennie Harrenstein Rindels. He attained the age of 81 years, 1 month and 21 days. On December 2, 1926 in Hampton he was united in marriage to Laura E. Doescher. After their marriage they farmed in the Buck Grove, Wellsburg, Grundy Center and Dike areas. When they retired they continued to live on a farm near Dike until 1974 when they moved and made their home in Dike. He was a member of the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Carol Jean, on May 31, 1978; three brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; one son, Eldon of RR1, Dike; two sisters, Mrs. Sara Alberts and Mrs. Herman (Janet) Akkerman; 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fun has been established. The Dike Funeral Chapel, Dike, was in charge of arrangements.
