Harm Sparenborg Dies In C. Falls From Heart Attack

Harm Sparenborg died Sunday evening at his home in Cedar Falls, following a heart attack. Death came quite suddenly. The fire resuscitator from Cedar Falls was called, but he could not be revived. He had suffered a previous heart attack ten years ago. He was 76 years old.

Funeral services were at the Nelson funeral home in Cedar Falls at 1:30 Wednesday. The service was conducted by Dr. Harvey Nelson, pastor of the First Methodist church in Cedar Falls. Burial was in the cemetery in Dike.

Mr. Sparenborg was born in Illinois. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Heere Sparenborg. The family moved to a farm in Grundy county 70 years ago, where Harm grew up.

On Dec. 28, 1911, he and Anna Luitjens were married at Britt, Iowa. They began housekeeping on a Grundy county farm. They resided on a farm near Dike when he suffered his first heart attack. Soon after that they left the farm and moved to Cedar Falls.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Lois Pabst, Waverly; two sons, Merle of Marion and Howard of Stanford, Cal.; a brother, Warren, Grundy Center; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Purvis, Mrs. Eike Henricks, Sophia and Lottie Sparenborg, all of Grundy Center; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son and two brothers.
