Former Resident Buried At Dike
Former Dike resident, Joe Henry Aswegan was buried last Monday afternoon at the Dike Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Aswegan, 63, passed away on Thursday evening, Sept. 25, at the St. Francis Hospital, Waterloo, of a brain hemorrhage. Chapel of Memories West were in charge of the arrangements.
He was born August 10, 1906 at Stout to Mr. and Mrs. Harm Aswegan. The family moved from Dike four years ago to Waterloo where he was caretaker at the First Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the church.
He was married to Phyllis Ash at Forest City on Jan. 7, 1941. Surviving are his widow, four sons, Harm and Laverne of New Hartford, Roger of Aitkin, Minnesota and Larry at home; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Landrus of Aitkin, Mrs. Phyllis Miller of 731 Kirkwood Ave., Waterloo and Letha at home; and 11 grandchildren; five brothers, Harm of Missouri, George of Parkersburg and William, Luke and Fred of Grundy Center and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Kuehl of Gladbook, Mrs. Lucy Mudderman and Miss Dena Aswegan of Grundy Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and several brothers and sisters.
