Former Dike Resident Buried March 8th
Former Dike resident, Mrs. Joe (Phyllis) Aswegan, 62, was buried in the Elmwood cemetery at Dike this past Tuesday afternoon, March 8, 1977. Mrs. Aswegan of 509 Wallgate Ave., Waterloo, passed away at her home last Saturday noon of complications of cancer. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Chapel of Memories West in Waterloo.
Mrs. Aswegan was born July 3, 1914 in Grundy Center, the daughter of John and Margaret Blackford Ash. She married Joe H. Aswegan on Jan. 7, 1941 in Forest City. They lived on N. Main Street, Dike, for a number of years before moving to Waterloo. Mr. Aswegan passed away on Sept. 25, 1969.
Survivors include four sons, Harm Bleeker of New Hartford, Roger Bleeker of Atkin, Minn., Laverne Aswegan of New Hartford and Larry Aswegan of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Landrus of Atkin, Minn., Mrs. Phyllis Miller of Waterloo and Letha Aswegan at home; nine sisters and three brothers.
