Rites Held For Marian Hansen
Marian F. Hansen, 82, of Dike, passed away at her home Saturday, October 12, 1996, of natural causes.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 15, 1996 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dike with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Pallbearers were David Shaffar, Dennis Rindels, Gary Shaffar, Raymond Clark, Brian Hansen and Lee Collins. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Shaffar, Jerry Cech and Chris Peters. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.
Marian was born July 12, 1914 in Grundy County, the daughter of Christ and Grace (Pabst) Johnson. She grew up and received her education in Grundy County, graduating from Dike High School in 1932. She was united in marriage to Edward Hansen on September 15, 1935 in Grundy County. The couple made their home in Dike.
Marian was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dike. She possessed a knack for crafting as well as a creative nature that enabled her to delight family and friends with her projects. Marian was also passionate about flowers and seemed able to make anything grow.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward in 1971; her sister Gacina Freese; an infant brother; her half-sister Augusta Hasbrouck; and two half-brothers, Conrad Henze and Christ Henze.
Survivors include her daughter Phyllis Shaffar and husband Richard of Union; her son Gary Hansen and his wife Carol of Seattle, Washington; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Jeanette Freese of Dike and Viola Butler of Grundy Center; and one half-sister, Leone Krahulec of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Memorials may be directed to the family. The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of funeral arrangements.
