Mrs. Caroline M. Johnson, 76, of 1013 W. 20th Street, Cedar Falls died at 10:03 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 1981 at the Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 1981 at the United Methodist Church in Dike, with the Rev. James F. Hanke and Dr. Paul H. Heath officiating. Randy and Jill Konken sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Mrs. Nathan Groote who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude. Casket bearers were Kenneth Pruisner, Donald Pruisner, Charles Freese, Harold Freese, Vernon Lovell and Lynn Lovell. Ushers were John Mulder and Russell Hohenberger. Mrs. Naomi Roberts and Mrs. Roy Groote were in charge of floral arrangements. Eldon Rindels and Gordan Pruisner provided their cars for the family use.
Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, Iowa. Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshment.
Mrs. Johnson was born on February 5, 1905 in Fairfield township, Grundy county, Iowa, the daughter of Nick and Dena Boike Freese. She attained the age of 76 years, 5 months and 6 days. On October 3, 1928 in Grundy Center she was united in marriage to Thomas V. Johnson. In their early married life they lived in the Dike area. In 1937 they moved to Cedar Falls, they then moved back to Dike in 1941 and they lived there until 1943 when they moved back to Cedar Falls. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls and a member of the Debra Circle of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on October 8, 1953, and one sister, Mrs. Grace Pruisner.
She is survived by one son, Ronald L. Johnson of Midland, Michigan; one daughter, Mrs. William H. (Mildred) Dirks of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Cornelius Freese of rural Dike and Vernon Freese of Sacramento, California; one sister, Mrs. Esther Lovell of Dike; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established. The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
