Funeral Services Held For Hugh Miller

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon for Hugh Miller, 76, at the First Methodist church, Dike. Rev. Robert Crum officiated, with burial in Elmwood cemetery.

Mr. Miller died about noon Saturday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital of complications following a cerebral hemorrhage. The past five months he had resided at Countryside Nursing Home in Grundy Center.

Hugh Miller was born April 30, 1889, in Broughdone, Ireland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Miller. He came to Grundy county in 1910 and married Sally Collins on Feb. 21, 1917. They farmed in the Reinbeck and Dike areas until retiring several years ago.

Preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lyman; one granddaughter and one brother. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. John Black of Hudson; two sons, Melvin, Dike and John of Glendale, Calif.; a brother, Sam, Cedar Falls; and five sisters and two brothers in Ireland.
