Services Mon. For Joe Clapp, Jr.

Funeral services were held last Monday, March 4, for Joe Clapp, Jr., 39, who died early Friday morning at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls of an apparent heart attack.

Services were held at the Dike First Methodist Church with Rev. Lloyd Bair officiating. Graveside military services and burial was at the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike.

He was born July 10, 1928 in Grundy County the son of Bertha and the late Joe Clapp, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 12, 1951 to Feb. 7, 1953, serving for sometime in the Korean conflict. With the exception of his year in service and an additional year, he had always lived on the home farm southwest of Dike. He has farmed for the last 10 years and had worked at the Viking Pump, Cedar Falls, for the past 6 months. He was married on Nov. 21, 1958.

The body was at the Dike Funeral Chapel from Saturday noon until being taken to the church for services.

Survivors include his widow, Elizabeth; 3 daughters, Beth Ann, 10, Carol Jo, 7, and Debbie Kay, 2; his mother, Mrs. Joe Clapp, Sr. of Reinbeck; and 3 brothers, Heiko of Red Oak, Ben of Dike, and Antko of Reinbeck.
