Rites Held For Elizabeth Jacobsen

Elizabeth Jacobsen, of Conrad, formerly of Dike, passed away Sunday, January 29, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, having attained the age of 96 years, 4 months and 1 day.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 1, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dike with Rev. Thelma Subramanian, Rev. David Kruse and Rev. Annette Kruse officiating. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.

Pallbearers were Robert Kruse, Charles Kruse, William Fee, Dallas Dove, Donald Albert and James Norton.

A memorial fund has been established.

Elizabeth was born on September 28, 1898, in Kolding, Denmark, the daughter of Jens and Dorthea (Sorensen) Aagaard. Her parents, Jens and Dorthea, came to the U.S.A. and settled in Cedar Falls in 1899. She was a telephone operator at Dike prior to her marriage to Leo Krumlinde. They were married June 28, 1919, at the Grace United Methodist in Waterloo. They farmed in the Fredsville area for many years, then moved to Cedar Falls for two years before moving to Dike in 1953.

Leo passed away on January 17, 1956. After his death she married Walter Jacobsen on June 12, 1958, in Conrad. Walter had two daughters, Uarda Kruse and Maxine Fee, who she treated as her own. Walter passed away in 1983.

Liz entered the Oakview Nursing Home in 1990. Some of her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, fishing and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands; her parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

Survivors include her 2 step-daughters, Uarda Kruse of Conrad and Maxine Fee of Waterloo; 6 grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 1 nephew.

The Dike Funeral Chapel in Dike was in charge of the professional arrangements.
