Ed. Reed Died in Sartori Hospital
Edward E. Reed died at 6:30 Monday afternoon at the Sartori Hospital at Cedar Falls. He was 75 years old last November. He was born in Galesburg, Ill., Nov. 11, 1883.
January 2, 1917, he and Addie Linn were married at Little Cedar, Iowa. They came to this community in 1929 where they farmed until 1929 when they moved to the town of Dike in 1946. Mr. Reed was a member of the Methodist church in Dike and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Nathan Reed, Cedar Falls, Lyle Reed, Latimer, Iowa, William H. Reed, serving in the U.S. Navy, and Dean Reed, Independence; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Hansen of Chester and Mrs. Sadie Grubb of Jacksonville, Fla., and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Edward Ernest Reed Obituary
Edward Ernest Reed, third oldest of nine children of Nathan and Mary Jane (Edson) Reed, was born November 11, 1882, and passed from this life March 9, 1959, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 28 days.
Born in Woodford County, Illinois, the family of which he was a member moved to LeRoy, Minn., in 1916. He was married January 2, 1917, to Miss Addie Linn. Mr. and Mrs. Reed farmed in Mitchell County, Iowa, until 1929, coming then to Dike which has since been their home.
Four sons blessed this union--Nathan of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Lyle of Latimer, Iowa, UNC William in the U.S. Navy and Dean of Independence, Iowa.
Mr. Reed was a member of the Baptist Church and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. His many friends in Dike will always remember him for his shrewd remarks for he was a man of strong convictions.
He is survived by his widow and four sons; four grandchildren, Rachel, Laurel, David and Colette; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Hensen of LeRoy, Minnesota and Mrs. George Mitchell of Jacksonville, Fla., together with other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 11, at 1:30 in the Dike Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Gleim officiating. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
