Mrs. L. DeBower Dies Suddenly

Mrs. Lucile DeBower, 57, of Dike suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at her home about 3:30 Saturday afternoon. She was taken to Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls, where she passed away at 6 p.m.

She was 57 years and 9 months old.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Dike Methodist church with Rev. Robert Crum officiating. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery at Dike.

Pallbearers, who were all nephews of the deceased, were Vernon, Merle, Leland and Darius Conradi, Wayne and Dale DeBower.

Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sloth and Mrs. Earl Biersner.

Lucille Conradi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Conradi, was born on a farm in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy county, on January 13, 1905. She grew up on the farm and attended school in Pleasant Valley township. She was married to Elmer DeBower in Grundy Center on May 4, 1927. They lived at Buck Grove and Stout for a few years and in 1932, following the death of her mother, they lived with her father on a farm south of Dike. They moved to Dike in 1950. Mrs. DeBower has lived alone since the death of her husband on January 7, 1954.

For the past five years, Mrs. DeBower had been employed at the cafeteria in the Commons at State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls. She had worked Saturday morning, the day of her death.

Mrs. DeBower is survived by two sons, Glenn in Dike and Donald, Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; three brothers, William, Dike, John, Grundy Center, Neal, Reinbeck, and by one sister, Mrs. Frank DeBower, of Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Five grandchildren survive.

Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
