Funeral Services For Mrs. Cora Davids Monday Afternoon

Funeral services were held this past Monday afternoon, December 19, 1977 for Mrs. Cora Davids, 89, of 221 Monroe Street, Dike. Mrs. Davids passed away at the Roberts Care Center, Waterloo last Friday, December 16th. She had attained the age of 89 years and 2 months.

The services were held at the United Methodist Church, Dike, at 2 p.m. Rev. James Hanke officiated. Vocal music was by Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graves. They sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". They were accompanied by organist, Mrs. John Paige, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude. Casketbearers were Ken McInroy, Gary McInroy, Arya Farinpout, Marvin Graves, George Brown and George Tonnesen. Ushers were John Mulder and Russell Hohenberger. Friends who had charge of the floral arrangements were Mrs. Marcus Kole and Mrs. Bertha Gray.

Burial was at the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Friends and relatives were invited to share in an hour of fellowship and coffee in the fellowship hall of the church following the burial.

Cora King was born October 16, 1889[sic] near Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew J. and Mary Louisa Buol King. At the age of 9 the family moved to Bear Valley, Wisconsin. She lived there till 1902 when she moved and made her home in Dike.

Cora King and William H. Davids were united in marriage in Dike on April 26, 1916. After their marriage they lived their entire life here in Dike. Mr. Davids passed away on May 16, 1965. She continued making her home here until entering a nursing home about a year ago.

Mrs. Davids was a member of the United Methodist Church and a Life Member of the United Methodist Women's organization.

Survivors include one son, Lloyd of Dike; one daughter, Mrs. Merle (Opal) McInroy of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister.

A memorial fund has been established. The Dike Funeral Chapel who were in charge of the arrangements held viewing at the Chapel Sunday and Monday morning till the body was taken to the church for viewing prior to the services.
