Rites Tuesday For Dr. Moles

Dr. C. L. Moles, 83, passed away at his home at 149 Second St., Dike, last Friday morning, Aug. 8, 1975.

Funeral services for Dr. Moles were held at 1:30 p.m. last Tuesday, August 12 at the United Methodist Church, Dike. The Rev. James Hanke, Jr., assisted by Rev. Joseph Sibert of the Fredsville Lutheran Church officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graves sang two selections, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset". They were accompanied by organist, Mrs. John Paige who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Clifford Moles, Don Rose, Michael Rose, David Rose, Tom Rose and Kurt Petersen. John Mulder, Byron Mulder, Russell Hohenberger and Jack Heritage served as ushers. Flower attendants were Mrs. Roger Davis, Lori Davis and Mrs. Lorraine Timmer. Friends and relatives were invited back to the church for a period of fellowship and refreshments.

Public viewing was held at the Dike Funeral Chapel from 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning until the casket was taken to the church Tuesday noon for viewing prior to the funeral services. Dike Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike.

Clifford Lee Moles was born Sept. 22, 1891 on a farm near Central City, Iowa, the son of John Dawson and Esther Ella Robinson Moles. He graduated from the Central City High School in 1910. He taught in a rural school near Central City for a year and then in 1911 he entered the Kansas City Veterinary College. He graduated in 1914 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Moles then practiced for a year in Laredo, Missouri and then moved to Omaha to become a Federal Meat Inspector.

He was married to Inez Irene Platner in St. Cloud, Minnesota on Sept. 22, 1915. Then in 1916 they moved to Cedar Rapids where he was also a government meat inspector. In 1918 they moved to Central City where he practiced veterinary medicine for a year. During 1919 and 1920 he had a practice in Traer.

On Nov. 15, 1920 they moved and made their home in Dike where he practiced veterinary medicine till he retired in 1965.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church; Dike Masonic Honor Lodge No. 646 (was last surviving charter member of the Lodge which was organized on Dec. 4, 1921), and the order of Eastern Star No. 120. He was a past member of the Dike Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors are his wife, Inez; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Margaret) Titus of Dallas, Texas and Mrs. Don (Mildred) Rose of Bellmount, California; one son, Clifford of Woodside, California; one brother, Howard Moles of Santa Barbara, California; three sisters, Mrs. Esther M. Dunn of Longmont, Colorado and Miss Florence Moles and Miss Maude Moles, both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.
