Dick Wiebrand Dies At Independence Hospital

Dick B. Wiebrand died last Friday at the state hospital at Independence. Death following a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 80 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Dike Monday afternoon. Burial was in the Dike cemetery.

Mr. Webrand was a native of Holland, Europe. He was born on April 21, 1862. 52 years ago he came to America with his family. The family located on a farm in the vicinity of Conrad where they resided several years, after which they moved to a farm near Dike. In 1922 the Wiebrand family moved to Dike.

Surviving are the wife and seven sons. The sons are Vern, of Reinbeck; Henry, William and Dick, Dike and New Hartford; Orlo, Cedar Falls; Melvin, Shell Rock; and John, Dike. There are two daughters, Mrs. Albert Meinders, Cedar Falls; and Mrs. John Rand, New Hartford. There are 32 grandchildren.
