Laurence F. Koch, 91

Laurence F. Koch, 91, of Dike, passed away June 30 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center. Funeral services were July 3 at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Military graveside services were conducted by the Dike American Legion Post #471.

Laurence was born May 14, 1912, in Dike, the son of Theodore and Fannie (Lee) Koch. He was united in marriage to June E. Eiby on December 3, 1932 in Dike. June passed away on July 22, 1962. Laurence served in the Army during WWII. Laurence married Glendola Richardson in Marengo. Laurence farmed and later went to work for the City of Dike. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hudson and he was a member and past commander of American Legion Post #471 of Dike.

Laurence is survived by his wife, Glendola; a son, Earl D. and his wife Betty Herman of Marengo; a son, Daniel D. and his wife Jessie Herman of Branson, MO; a daughter, Earline and her husband Dewey Wheeler of Belle Plaine; a daughter Celia and her husband Larry Harken of Aplington; and a son, Glen D. Herman of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera and her husband Al Camarata of Cedar Falls.

Laurence was preceded in death by his first wife, June; a still born son, Robert; his parents; and two sisters, Della Christensen and Doris Prahm.
