Services for Ben F. Whitney, 87, formerly of 3021 Rainbow Dr., will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth G. Farnsworth officiating.

Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Dike.

Mr. Whitney died Friday at Lawn City Nursing Home after a lingering illness.

He was born Aug. 18, 1882, in Grundy County, son of William and Millie Whitney. He married Josephine Elliott March 21, 1906. He was a rural mail carrier in the Stout area for eight years and farmed until his retirement in 1966 when he moved to Cedar Falls.

Survivors include two sons, Max of 3021 Rainbow Dr. and Roger of Janesville; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Cox of Fairbank; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by parents, wife, four brothers, three sisters and three grandsons.
