Services Held For William Beeman

William D. Beeman, age 78, of RR1, Dike, passed away at his farm home Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 1981.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 6 at the United Methodist Church, Dike, IA, with the Rev. James F. Hanke officiating. Craig DeBerg sang "How Great Thou Art" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" and was accompanied by Mrs. John Paige, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Pallbearers were Merle Jones, James H. Jones, Virgil Knack, William Amundson, Hershel Carnes and Merle Conradi. Ushers were Russell Hohenberger and John Mulder. Mrs. Holger Dall and Mrs. Ed Andersen were in charge of floral arrangements. John Paige, Mervin Andersen and Holger Dall provided their cars for the family's use.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshment.

William was born June 15, 1903, in Tracy, MN, the son of Ira and Nora Jones Beeman. He attained the age of 78 years, 4 months and 18 days. As a small child they moved to Conrad, IA, where he grew up and graduated from high school. On November 29, 1923, in Marshalltown he was united in marriage to Dena Bonk. After their marriage they farmed west of Conrad until 1943 when they moved and made their home in the Dike area. On April 9, 1970, his wife Dena passed away. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dike. He enjoyed working with and making things out of wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son and one sister.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Jack (Jean) Schmid of White Bear Lake, MN, Mrs. William C. (Shirley) Fredrick of Santa Ana, CA, Mrs. William (Janice) Schupbach of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Duane (Betty) Habben of RR1, Dike; one sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Mabel) Long of Henry, IL; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
