Highly Respected Young Man Called To Rest

Frank W. Goodell, Son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Goodell Died on Saturday

Frank W. Goodell, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Goodell passed away at the country home of his parents Saturday after several years of suffering from that much dreaded disease consumption. Mr. Goodell traveled far in recent years with the hopes of benefiting his health, but the different climates had no benefiting effect for this highly respected young man and nothing was left for him but to await the summons of his heavenly Father. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. B. Black at the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Black taking for his text "Thou shalt be missed because thy place will be empty." The body was laid to rest in the Clark cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad affliction.

Frank W. Goodell was born in Kimball county, S.D., Jan. 31, 1885. When a child of three years of age he came with his parents to Grundy county, Iowa. With the exception of about seven years spent in Cedar Rapids the family have lived near Grundy Center.

Frank began his school life while in Cedar Rapids and graduated from the Grundy Center high school in the spring of 1903. On account of failing health he went to Colorado and California for a change of climate in March 1904. As an indication of the high esteem in which he was held by his young friends in Grundy Center, he was presented with a handsome purse containing $100 on his departure. He remained in the west for two years and two months returning to Grundy Center a year ago last May. The change of climate failed to bring the hoped for results and after his return he gradually failed in health until the dread disease consumption finished its work.

He united with the M.E. church of Grundy Center, under the pastorate of S. T. McKim, Nov. 24th, 1898. He was the eldest of the family of three young children having previously died.
