James S. Dawson
Charles City--James S. Dawson, 58, 113 Park Ave., died Saturday (Aug. 12, 1989) at the Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cross Lutheran Church, 312 First Ave., Charles City. The Rev. Daniel Marshall, of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Mason City, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City, with military rites by the American Legion and V.F.W.
Mr. Dawson was born March 16, 1931, at Charles City to James S. and Esther (Loof) Dawson. He graduated from Charles City Community Schools.
On Sept. 18, 1954, he was married to Eleanore Lange at San Jose, Calif. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was employed in management by the former White Farm Equipment Co. in Charles City.
He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church, Cross Lutheran Men's Club and the American Legion.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt, Charles City.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Denise) Roy, St. Paul Park, Minn.; two sons, David, of Des Moines, and Dean, of Juneau, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. Russell (Nola) Guthart, Charles City, and Mrs. Virgil (Cheryl) Sullivan, Manly; his mother, Mrs. Esther Dawson, Charles City; one brother, Richard, of Charles City; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and his wife, who died in 1986.
