Gerriet Bakker Dies In Mason City Hospital

Gerriet Bakker, 62, of 1509 W. 7th Avenue N. Clear Lake died September 6 at the Mason City Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City, with the Rev. Robert L. Stone, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating.

Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City with flag folding ceremonies by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Mr. Bakker served in the Armed Forces during World War II. He came to Mason City in 1962 from Wellsburg.

He married Irene Schultz on December 7, 1962 at Webster City. He was employed as a truck driver for Weaver Construction Company until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Irene, his mother, Mrs. Anna Bakker, a sister, Mrs. Alice Kramer and three brothers, Gratus, Mennie and Meint.
