Rites Held For Darrell Breneman

Darrell "Bo" Breneman, 65, of Wellsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, at his home of cancer.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 22, at 11 a.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Burial was in the Taylorsville Cemetery, rural Arlington at 4 p.m. Pastor Charles Ager officiated the service. There were full military graveside services at the cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom, Dan, Don, Dean and Jim Breneman and Carl Warrington.

A memorial fund has been established.

Bo was born on July 22, 1932, the son of Everett W. and Aletha (Whiteford) Breneman in Randalia. He was baptized as an infant and joined the United Church of Christ in Lowden as a youth and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg in 1952.

On June 26, 1959, he was united in marriage with Marlys Oldfather in Volga. He received his BS and MA Degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. Bo taught History and coached Girls athletics in the Wellsburg High School from 1958 to 1976. Bo was an independent insurance agent in Wellsburg from 1976 until the time of his death.

Bo was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Area 6 School Board, Grundy County Veterans Commission, Wellsburg American Legion Post and Amvets Post 91, member of the 40/8 and Wellsburg Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Marlys of Wellsburg; 2 sons, Tom and his wife Lonnette of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Dan of Superior, Wisconsin; 2 brothers, Don and wife Donna of Lowden and Dean and wife Carla of Davenport; 3 grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
