Robert John Johnson, 59, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, October 18, 2008 at St. Pius X Catholic Church of which he was a member with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery.

Bob was born October 17, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of John Elmer and Martha (Sandvig) Johnson. He was a graduate of Wellsburg High School and attended Waldorf College and the University of Northern Iowa. Bob received an Associates Degree in Reinsurance Designation and had worked for Grinnell Mutual. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and an active participant in numerous county mutual insurance organizations. Bob received the lifetime achievement award, P.R.I.M.E. from the M.I.A.I. and was a two time honorary guest for the American Cancer Society Golf Outing (Coaches vs. Cancer). He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, golf, automobiles and supported the Animal Rescue League.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna; sons, Matt (Carmie) Johnson and their children, Christy and Jake and Andy (JoDee) Johnson and their children, Gracie and Olivia all of Urbandale, Iowa; sisters, Orrine and Jan and his loyal pet, Libby. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marilyn and Bonnie.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM, Friday, October 17, 2008 at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel with a Vigil Service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
