Leroy Kruse, 90, of Ackley, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Grand JiVante in Ackley from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20th at the St. Peter’s Country Church in rural Wellsburg with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Leroy Merle Kruse was born on October 11, 1928 in Wellsburg to Albert and Kate (Toomsen) Kruse. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1946. On June 15, 1949, Leroy was united in marriage to Ebalena Harms in Dumont. Leroy farmed the family farm in Wellsburg until 1994 when he retired and they moved to Ackley in 2003. He loved farming, traveling and church activities.

Leroy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ebalena of Ackley, his children Kent (Barb) Kruse of Cedar Falls, Mark (Deborah) Kruse of Minneapolis, MN, and Lisa Kruse of Waterloo, his grandchildren Kris Kruse of San Francisco, CA, Daniel (Angela) Kruse of Forest Lake, MN, Benjamin Kruse of Morristown, MN, Katie (Andrew) Steck of Minneapolis, MN, Joel Kruse of Omaha, NE, and Christie (Erik) Gray of Minneapolis, MN, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Darwin Kruse.
