Ray Nichols a Victim Of Cancer; Died Saturday A.M.

Ray Nichols died at three o'clock Saturday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Nordruff. He had suffered from cancer most of the past year. He submitted to an operation at the hospital at Marshalltown last fall and for a short time thereafter it appeared that he was getting better. Later, the ravages of the incurable disease manifested themselves again and they continued until the end.

Mr. Nichols was 48 years old. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nichols and was born on a farm a short distance south of town. He resided in this locality all of his life. He was engaged in the automobile repair business in Wellsburg for a time and later took up trucking.

Surviving are the widow and four children. The sons are Russell, Dale and Clarence. The daughter's name is Edith. There is one brother living, Rene from Rockford, Ill. The four sisters are Mrs. John Nordruff of Wellsburg, Mrs. Ray Thompson and Mrs. Edward Schultz from Eldora, and Mrs. C. H. Meyer, who lives in Texas.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon and later at the Christian Reformed church with the local pastor, Rev. DeKorne, officiating. Burial was by the side of the father and mother in the Ivester cemetery.
