Mrs. Inez Irene Wolford, 99, of Burlington died at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at her home.

Born April 13, 1918 in Fairmont, Minnesota she was the daughter of Nathan and Eva (Howell) Mitchell. On May 6, 1936 she married Richard Wolford in Fairmont. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2003.

Mrs. Wolford worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant, retiring in 1972. She attended First United Church of Christ.

Mrs. Wolford enjoyed baking, quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She made every grandchild a special afghan and she also made dolls. She was the pie baker for every holiday and was a Cubs baseball fan.

Mrs. Wolford liked to ride with her husband in his semi and even had her own CDL to assist in driving. She loved attending her youngest great-grandsons' ball games all the way until this summer. Her mornings were a special time for drinking her coffee, watching her "programs" and her daily conversations with family.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Vandeman of Ashland, Nebraska and Leanna Leffel of Fortuna, California; one son, Darwin Wolford of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and two on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven sisters, and one great-granddaughter.

The funeral service for Mrs. Wolford will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 2nd at Lunning Chapel with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.

Memorials have been established for First United Church of Christ and Great River Hospice.

Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and will be accorded following the funeral service.
