Jake Duffert, 91, Died In Dakota

Services for Jake Duffert, 91, former resident who died Saturday at Flandreau, S.D., were Monday morning at Flandreau, and at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home here. Burial was in the Sheller cemetery north of Ivester Tuesday.

He was born October 29, 1880, in Logward, Germany, and came to Grundy county when he was 21 years old. He was married to Trina Kuhlman in Grundy county, June 19, 1900, at Grundy Center. They farmed southwest of Grundy Center for many years. Mrs. Duffert died January 25, 1943. He was later married to Mrs. Tena Katzer, September 26, 1946. She preceded him in death February 24, 1947. He then moved to South Dakota in 1948, where he made his home with his son, William.

In addition to his son, survivors include one grandson, three great-grandchildren; also two brothers in Germany, Renner and George.

Casketbearers for the local service were William Kuhlman, Eike Henricks, Lynn Doak, Ernest Draper, Raymond Katzer and Henry C. Claassen. Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf officiated.
