New Hartford--Douglas R. Miller, 72, of New Hartford, died Wednesday, March 28, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 10, 1935, in Ackley, son of Harry and Beulah (Fischer) Miller. He married Patricia Ann Brennan July 21, 1961, in Cedar Falls. She died November 5, 2001.

Mr. Miller was a 1954 graduate of Cedar Falls High School, and was employed as an assembler with John Deere Westfield, in Waterloo, until his retirement in 1991.

Survivors include: two daughters, Melissa (Steve) Hinde and Jennifer Miller (Shawn Matson); three sons, Mark, Trent (Becky), and Timothy Miller, all of New Hartford; five grandchildren, Brandi Miller, Sam Hinde, Tony Miller, Erik Matson, and Ryan Hinde; three brothers, Ronald (Sharon) Miller of Gig Harbor, Washington, Gary (Donna) Miller, of Cedar Falls, and Duane "Butch" (Debbie) Miller also of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: his parents and his wife

Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in New Hartford, with burial in Fairfield Township Cemetery, also in New Hartford. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home. Visitation also for one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
