Sudden Death

John E. Utter Died Last Night After a Brief Sickness

John E. Utter, father of Ira Utter, the barber, died yesterday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock of kidney trouble. He has been suffering with the complaint for some four years, but was able to be about and on the night of his death he was about and assisted his son in doing the chores. He had been feeling rather badly, however, since about 3 p.m., but he did not give up until midnight. From that time he grew worse until yesterday afternoon when death came as stated.

Mr. Utter was born in Otsego Co., N.Y., August 8, 1829. He came to Iowa 22 years ago and located in Grundy county. In Nov., 1894, he moved to this city and located on the Wilson farm about a mile north of town. He leaves a wife, three sons and two daughters. The funeral services will be held from the residence on Monday forenoon and the interment will take place in Fairfield cemetery, Grundy county.

Deceased was favorably known and the bereaved family have the sympathy of all.
