Rites Sunday for C. Biebesheimer

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Engelkes Funeral home for Charles Biebesheimer. The services were conducted by Rev. Donald Javfert, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery. He was 77 years old last September. He had been a resident of Grundy Center 41 years. He had been in failing health the past six months. He died at the Grundy Memorial Hospital on the evening of January 9th.

Charles Biebesheimer was born in Vinton, Iowa on September 1, 1881. He finished high school and attended the Tilford Academy in Vinton before finishing his education at the Business College of Cedar Rapids.

In 1904 Charles was employed at the Wellsburg Savings Bank. There he met Jenny Freese, whom he married in 1909. Of this union were born two children, Dr. Jerome Biebesheimer of Mason City, Iowa, and Mrs. B. H. Rorem (Eloise) of Minneapolis.

Shortly after moving to Grundy Center in 1916, he purchased the first funeral car in the area and drove this for funeral directors in Wellsburg, Grundy and Reinbeck, until he retired in 1947.

The members of his family who preceded him in death, were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Biebesheimer of Vinton, his brother, Dr. G. A. Biebesheimer of Reinbeck, and his two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Seeley and Goldie Biebesheimer of Vinton.
