Darold Bucholz, 80, of St. Augustine, Illinois, died at 7:14 P.M on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
Darold was born on April 22, 1936, the son of Cecil and Gladys Peters Bucholz in Watertown, South Dakota. He was raised and then adopted by his foster mother, Emma Snittjer. He attended High School in Wellsburg, Iowa and studied agriculture at Iowa State University for two years. Darold married Darlene J. Lemke on December 22, 1962 in Dows, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2004.
He is survived by his son, John Bucholz of St. Augustine, Illinois; two sisters, Barbara Davis of Brownville, Texas and Patty Brown of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Darold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Mark; two brothers, Charles and Jim; and his foster mother, Emma Snittjer of Wellsburg, Iowa.
He served in the United State Army. He began working in the Chrysler Plant in Belvidere, Illinois, before moving to Fairview, Illinois to work as a Coal Miner in the area, then moving to St. Augustine, Illinois to farm. In the past few years he has enjoyed meeting at McDonalds every day to visit with his friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois, the Rev. Scott Wilson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the luncheon at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center in Knoxville, Illinois following the graveside services.
