Darwin Meyer

Darwin "Dobbie" Meyer, 63, of Loveland, Colo. died April 9, 2011, at his home. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 315 G. Avenue, Grundy Center.

He was born January 6, 1948, in Marshalltown, to William and Edna Meyer. Darwin grew up in Iowa, graduating in 1966 from Wellsburg High School in Wellsburg. He lived in St. Paul, Minn. before moving to Loveland, Colo. in July of 2003. On September 27, 2003, Darwin married Karilyn Rhoads in Loveland.

Darwin specialized in Parts and Inventory for many Truck Equipment Companies in the Midwest and southern states, including Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois. He had a love for the mountains and the outdoors. Darwin enjoyed hunting, fishing in the northern states, grilling, picnics, his computer and his three dogs Rags, Missy and Ginger. He especially loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren.

Darwin is survived by his loving wife, Karilyn of Loveland, Colo.; son, Chris Meyer (Nicole), Newton; daughter, Shayla Meyer of Newton; step-son, Dion Weichers of Loveland, Colo.; step-daughter, Kendra Jordan of Denver, Colo.; brother, Gary Meyer of Houston, Texas; two step-grandchildren, Tatum and Jameson Jordan, and mother-in-law, Gladys Rhoads.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Carl Rhoads.
