Gary Mennenga Services Are Held

Gary Edward Mennenga, Litchfield Park, Arizona, died June 23, 1998, in Asheville, North Carolina. He was born August 26, 1937, near Steamboat Rock, Iowa. He was educated in the Steamboat Rock and Wellsburg Schools, graduating in 1954. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had lived in Arizona since 1961. At the time of his death, he was Director of Product Assurance for Universal Propulsion, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Litchfield Park, a son, Chad, of Mesa, Arizona; and a daughter, Tracie of Berkeley, California. He is also survived by his mother, Esther Mennenga, of Ackley; a sister, Karen Ammann of the Marshall Islands; grandsons Caleb Mennenga, Elijah and Ian Ammons, as well as a stepson, Rod Phillips of Phoenix; and stepdaughters, Renee Phillips of Florida, and Rhonda Ammons of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Mennenga, of Steamboat Rock.

Private services were held in North Carolina. A memorial service was held July 1 in Litchfield Park, Arizona.

A memorial fund in his memory to benefit homeless children has been established at the Thomas J. Pappas School, 355 North 5th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85003.
