Neva Cockerham, 95, of Ackley, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at Grand JiVante in Ackley. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Ackley United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date at the Oakwood Cemetery in Ackley. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time on Thursday at the church. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls is caring for Neva and her family.

Neva was born on April 30, 1923 in Grundy County, Iowa to Herman and Mary (Badje) Snittjer. She graduated from Wellsburg Community School. Neva was united in marriage to Earl Cockerham in 1941. After Earl returned from serving in WWII, they moved to Ackley, Iowa where they raised their family.

Neva enjoyed a varied work life having been at Voy’s Restaurant for years and later the grocery store business which she retired from after thirty plus years. She loved the work and all of her co-workers and customers. She was a “people” person, so this was one of the joys of her life.

Neva is survived by her three children, Dixie (Don) Stone of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jim Cockerham of Ackley, Iowa and Cathy Meyer of Ackley, Iowa; grandchildren, Pat (Gary) Knipfel of Hampton, Iowa, Bob Rameyer (Curtis Chee) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mary Frieden of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Mike Cockerham of Huxley, Iowa, Jackie Grieves of Marshalltown, Iowa, Trista Sanchez of Des Moines, Iowa and Kelli (Kent) Bachman of Ames, Iowa; fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and two sisters.
