Rites Held For Donald Neessen

Funeral services for Donald L. Neessen, 75, of 3720 Butternut Lane, Waterloo, were held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Garden View Chapel at Waterloo. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623.

He died Monday, August 21, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born February 1, 1920, in Wellsburg, son of H. G. and Norma Johnson Neessen. On March 15, 1940, he was married to Virginia Niday in Rochester, Minnesota.

Mr. Neessen worked as a pattern maker at the John Deere Experimental Farm in product engineering for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. hHe was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

Those who survive are his wife; a daughter, Colleen Neessen of California; three sons, Jerry of New York, Michael of California and Craig of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren; three sisters, LaVerne Johnson of Waterloo, Helen McCaffery of Cedar Falls and Myrna Hicks of Michigan, and a brother Lawrence of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
