Bruce Carroll Stahl, 66

Bruce Carroll Stahl, 66, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, passed away October 28, 2017 at his home. Out of respect for Bruce's wishes there will not be a visitation or a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memories and condolences can be sent to Denise Stahl at Steamboat Rock, IA.

Bruce was born September 26, 1951 at the Eldora Hospital to Carroll and Joyce (Sietsema) Stahl of Wellsburg. He graduated in 1969 from Wellsburg Community School. On December 28, 1969 he joined the Navy where he proudly served for six years on the FBM Submarine Casimer Pulaski 633.

On December 28, 1970 he married Denise Hesseltine from Iowa Falls, Iowa. Together they moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia so Bruce could attend A-School in the Navy. He then transferred to Groton, Connecticut to attend C-School before he began making patrols underwater for seven months out of the year. His port was in Holy Loc, Scotland.

Bruce loved his family. He was a faithful fan at all his grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and could grow the most beautiful flowers. One of his favorite spots was his home away from home at his camper near Pella, Iowa.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Denise; his two sons, Nathan Stahl (Michelle) of Grundy Center and Aarron Stahl (Jennifer) of Steamboat Rock; six grandchildren, Ashley Silker (Gage), Alec Stahl, Hannah Stahl, Taylor Stahl, Addi Stahl and Andy Stahl; and one great-grandchild, Emmett Silker; his mother, Joyce Stahl; two sisters Brenda Faircloth and Janet McMillan (Gary) and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Stahl and brother-in-law, Randy Faircloth.
