Former Resident Dies Suddenly Of Heart Attack

Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon for Claude Heddens, 59, at Mediapolis. Mr. Heddens, a former resident here, died of a sudden heart attack at his home Wednesday, September 24.

He was born at Wellsburg to Dr. Claus Heddens and Eva Eells Heddens and received his schooling in the Wellsburg School. After graduation he entered the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls. He was a former teacher in the Danville, Iowa school system. He also served in the United States Navy as an Ensign. At the time of his death he was a dispatcher.

Surviving are his wife, the former Etta Wagner, also three daughters: Claudette, wife of Dr. Brad Bork, a dentist at Mediapolis; Roxie, a teacher in the Iowa City school system, and Heather, who is a student at the University of Iowa at Iowa City. Also surviving are two granddaughters, two brothers: John Heddens of Winter Park, Florida, Dr. Harry Heddens of Wellsburg, and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Ashby of Wellsburg. Preceding him in death were his parents and a son in infancy.

Burial services were held in the cemetery at Danville.
