Rites Held For Earl Harlan

Earl Harlan, 81, of 5517 Briercrest Avenue, Lakewood, CA, 90713, passed away Thursday, January 3, at Doctor's Hospital of acute pneumonia.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Cyprian Catholic Church in Long Beach, CA.

Earl, son of Bert and Daisy Harlan, was born on June 16, 1909, at Menlo, IA. He graduated from the Wellsburg High School in 1928.

On November 1, 1941, he was united in marriage to Edna Hoffman of Ackley, IA. They resided in California throughout their married life.

He was employed by the Douglas Aircraft for 34 years until his retirement in 1974. His wife Edna passed away in April of 1990.

On October 24, 1990, Earl was united in marriage to Minnie Taffinder of Wellsburg.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna; his brothers, George and Glen; and his sister, Alyce Lindaman.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie; two step-children, Ron Taffinder of Houston, TX and Rita Brown of Arlington, VA; four step-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Walker of Concord, CA, a brother Joseph of Des Moines, IA; a sister-in-law, Vada Harlan of Pasa Robles, CA; and nieces and nephews.
