Mrs. Lou Martens Dies In Hospital
Mrs. Louis Martens, who resided on a farm five miles south of Grundy Center several years, died in the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown last Wednesday.
Funeral services were held in the Congregational church in Reinbeck Friday afternoon. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery.
Mrs. Martens had submitted to major surgery at the hospital on April 26 and death was unexpected.
She was born Edna Mae Hoeg, the daughter of the late Wm. and Minnie Hoeg, in Lincoln, Iowa, January 27, 1899, and was married Dec. 5, 1917, to Louie Martens at Lincoln.
The couple moved to Reinbeck from Lincoln one year ago, retiring from farming, and purchased the former Myron Humphrey home.
Survivors include: the husband; four sisters: Mrs. Helen Nissen, Mrs. Florence Jargstorf and Mrs. Velma Raney of Reinbeck; Mrs. Marie Elsasser, Perry, Iowa; one brother, Floyd W. Hoeg, Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
