Ed Habben Died In Veterans' Hospital
Edward Habben of Reinbeck died Monday at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines following a heart attack. Death came shortly after he reached the hospital. He had been a patient for nine weeks in the Grundy Memorial hospital before he was taken to Des Moines. He was 55 years old on the 12th of last June. He was born June 12, 1897, at Britt, Iowa. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Habben. On June 18, 1921, he was married to Grace Campbell at Reinbeck. He served during the first World War and was an active member of Reinbeck's Legion Post.
Active in 4-H Club Work
Ed Habben for many years was an outstanding leader in 4-H club work and was the late L. W. Plager's right hand man in building up a strong 4-H organization in Grundy county.Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at the Congregational church in Reinbeck. Burial will be in the Reinbeck cemetery.
Surviving are the widow and three children: Cecile, Waterloo; Duane, of Camp Drum, New York; and Lynn, Iowa State college, Ames; five brothers, Ben, Rowley; Ike, Des Plains, Ill.; George, Hammond, Ind.; Joe, Anderson, Ind.; Henry, Renville, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Will Bakker, Renville, Minn.
