Ippe DeVries Dies In Black Hawk County

Ippe DeVries, a long time resident of Grundy county, died early Sunday morning in the Black Hawk County Hospital, Cedar Falls.

Death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 75 years old. He had been a resident at Western Old People's Home, Cedar Falls, since last September.

Funeral services were held at the Reformed church in Stout Tuesday afternoon, following a prayer service at the home of his sister in Stout. Burial was in the cemetery at Lincoln Center.

Mr. DeVries was born in Lincoln township, Grundy county, Oct. 30, 1879. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeVries, among the early residents of Grundy county. In February 1909 he and Dora Arends were married. They farmed in Lincoln and Beaver townships until 1935, when they retired from the farm and moved to North Cedar, near Cedar Falls.

Surviving are the widow and one son, John, of New York City. A brother, Henry, resides near Holland, and a sister, Miss Elizabeth DeVries, resides in Stout. He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.
