Died--Mathias Bentc at his home in Pleasant Valley township last Thursday morning, Aug. 4, after a brief illness of three days. Deceased was 66 years, 5 months and thirty days old, a native of Germany, having come to this country about thirty-five years ago. He resided in Illinois for nine years but since that time has lived in this state. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his loss, two sons and three daughters. The funeral was held at the Evangelic church in Pleasant Valley township at 2 o'clock, and was conducted by Revs. Gerhardt and Shuck, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near by. The wife and children have the sympathy of a large host of friends in their sad bereavement.
