Mrs. R. Claassen Dies in Waterloo

Mrs. Rudolph Claassen, who spent most of her life in Grundy county, died last Thursday at St. Francis hospital in Waterloo. Death followed complications after surgery. She was 58 years old.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Western Gospel Hall in Waterloo. The service was conducted by Mr. Oliver G. Smith. Burial was in Salem Lutheran cemetery in Beaver township.

Mrs. Claassen was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Remmer Stickfort. She was born at Holland, Iowa, Dec. 2, 1898, and she grew up there. She married Adolf Hippen at Holland in 1917. He died in 1953. On Sept. 25, 1954, she married Rudolph Claassen from Waterloo and the couple made their home in Waterloo where she became a member of the Gospel church.

She is survived by her husband; her father, living in Cedar Falls; three sons, Adolp Hippen, of Evansdale; Raymond Hippen, also of Evansdale, and Oliver Hippen, 3107 Falls Ave., Waterloo; three daughters, Mrs. John Lambert, of Evansdale; Mrs. Arthur Brown, of Omaha; Mrs. Gertrude Vaughan, Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; five brothers: Jake and John Stickfort of Cedar Falls; Ben Stickfort of highway 20 W., Richard Stickfort, Stout; and William Stickfort of Grundy Center; and a sister, Mrs. Jay DeNeui, Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her three sons, a granddaughter, and her first husband.
