The angels came for Perle A. Waugh Ralston, 104, at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, IA, on July 30, 2017.
Perle was born in Hendricks, MN, on September 26, 1912, to John and Hulda Waugh. They resided there until 1934 when they moved to a farm west of Conrad. Perle met Leslie Ralston at a dance in Conrad. They became dancing partners for life on November 21, 1936, when they were married in Des Moines, IA. They farmed until 1959, then moved to Conrad and opened the Coin Operated Laundry for 36 years.
Perle worked primarily as a homemaker, but also at Oakview Nursing Home, Johnston Furniture, and the laundromat. She was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church, UMW, Loyal Ladies Club, and a Bird Watching Group. Perle taught Sunday School, Bible School, hosted numerous Bible Studies, and was a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets each night.
Perle’s gracious hospitality was enjoyed by family and friends. No one could set a table like Perle did for a wonderful meal that always included homemade pie and chocolate chip and sugar cookies for the grandchildren.
Perle will be dearly missed by her daughter, Janet (Wayne) Fiscus of Conrad, and all of her grand, great, and great-great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 74 years, Leslie, her daughter and son-in law, Rhonda and Larry Reel, her parents, and brothers and sisters.
At Perle’s request, a private sunset gravesite service with immediate family was held Tuesday evening.
Thank you to all of her extended family and friends for taking the time to honor Perle for many happy celebrations through the years. Your visits, letters, and phone calls meant so much to her.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes.
