Craig R. Vinton, 68, of Whitten, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with arrangements.

Born August 28, 1947 to Dick and Bette (Bailey) Vinton in Eldora, Iowa. After graduating from Union-Whitten High School, Craig worked many jobs as a mechanic, farm help, and his true passion as a semi driver for Decker Truck Lines and Green Products Co, Inc. among others.

Craig made his home in the Conrad and Whitten area and was a member of the Whitten Church, Conrad Fire Dept, and Grundy Co. Sheriff’s Reserves.

Craig enjoyed collecting John Deere toy tractors and memorabilia. He was a big fan of old movies, truck and tractor pulling, and Nascar Racing. He enjoyed time with family, his grandchildren and his dog, JD.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Bette, brothers, Paul Dean and Gary, and sister Lorri.

Craig is survived by his daughters, Paula (Newt) Adams and grandson Brock of Gifford, Iowa, and Jill Smith (Ben Hehn) of Boscobel, WI., grandchildren Josie, Sydney and Clayton, great-grandchildren, Raimie, Emersyn and Ryker, sister Becky (Mark) Warburton of Radcliffe, and many nieces and nephews.
