Delbert W. Meyer, 96, of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Grundy Care Center while under the care of Unity Point Hospice and Grundy Care. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Orchard Hill Church at Lincoln Center in Grundy Center, with Pastor Brian Steenhoek officiating. Burial will follow the luncheon at Rosehill Cemetery in Grundy Center. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center.

Delbert William Meyer, son of Eldridge and Pearl Claussen Meyer was born on July 8, 1920 in Lincoln Township in Grundy County, Iowa. He received his education from rural Country School in Grundy County. Delbert was engaged in farming near Dike, Iowa. On February 16, 1945 he married Ann Irene Miller at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in Fern, Iowa. The couple resided and continued to farm near Dike. Delbert enjoyed fishing and loved to travel with his wife, Ann. His hobbies also included playing cards, especially Pepper, listening to Polka music and loved spending time with his family especially his grandson, Chad.

Survivors include his son, Gary (Tammi) Meyer of Grundy Center; grandson, Chad Meyer also of Grundy Center; brothers, Glen Meyer of Arizona and Ron (Jean) Meyer also of Arizona; sister, Pauline (Harley) Mulder of Grand Rapids, MI; sister-in-law, Gla Meyer of Cedar Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Delbert was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Meyer; son, Roger Meyer; brother, Wayne Meyer; and sister-in-law, Oma Meyer.
